Karleena Ravenwood, Founder/Director of Tucson Women's Chorus and Natural Voice Practitioner trained in England, will teach and lead songs, rounds and chants that have been used in women's circles of various kinds throughout the country over the last few decades. The songs are from many countries, cultures and traditions, as well as those arising from women meeting in sacred circles in this country.
The workshop is also open to women and girls who wish to sit in the midst of such singing, even if they do not wish to sing themselves.
Location: On the lawn of Corbett House (180 N. Main) which is just northeast of the Museum of Art (corner of N. Main & W. Alameda) downtown.

The Natural Voice Workshops & Playshops are available for groups, institutions, schools, businesses, etc., by arrangement. From a 20-minute format for pre-school ages, to 2-hour or full-day, or weekend formats for adults.

April 10, 2010, 9:30am-5:00pm, Silver City NM -- Vocal Freedom! A day-long retreat for women to set our voices free! Sliding scale: $20-$50.
The morning session is an opportunity for both "singers" and self-professed "non-singers" alike to experience the voice through many different kinds of vocal explorations that are outside the realm of our day-to-day use of our voices. We explore the enjoyment of "sounding" as a whole-body process in a safe, supportive and enlivening space together. This includes experiences from the silly to the sublime.
The afternoon seesion includes creating a Chorus-of-the-Moment... using simple rounds, chants and songs pulled from women's sacred circles as well as other cultures and traditions. This is all in a cappella style (no accompaniment) with no written music (so sight-reading is not necessary). Songs are learned using the call-and-response method so they can be learned by heart. This singing experience also explores territory from the sublime to the silly.
The workshop is offered in a building based on sacred geometry in a pristine mountain setting 20 minutes from Silver City. It is limited to 12 participants, so please register early.
